The Dellet's HyperHuman originated as an experiment to "maximize" the Original Human Form, while maintaining most of the unique human identity. After centuries of ground-breaking genetic experimentation and refinement, a sufficient population existed for a rebellion of sorts to occur, and the Dellet's HyperHumans broke away from the various scientific and military organizations that had given the race "birth." They had no homeworld to retreat to, so instead various communities established themselves among existing human civilizations. Though some localized evolutionary drift has occurred in isolated pockets, the Dellet's HyperHuman race remains distinct, and flourishes. The primary aspects of the Dellet's HyperHuman: Four arms -- Why four? It doubles the carrying and manipulatory capacity, while retaining human appearance. Longer arms, legs, and fingers -- To increase walking and running speed, and provide a general increase in manual dexterity. Superskin -- Epidermal layers are infused with high concentrations of collagenic oils, metals and minerals, and tensile tissues, yielding a supple but incredibly resilient and tough skin, highly resistant to extreme temperatures, caustic chemicals, and physical trauma. The development of this Superskin occupied decades of research, and is one of the most amazing achievements known in genetic engineering. Superbones -- Much easier to develop than was the Superskin, Dellet's Superbones are fibrous metal-rich webs, far less brittle than healthy "normal" bones of calcium, and less than half as heavy. Widened Visual Spectral Range -- Dellet's HyperHumans see light from the high end of the microwave band, through infrared and the visible spectrum, and well into the ultraviolet range. Enhanced Reasoning Faculties -- Not a difficult task, to increase memory capacity, and compound the processing neurons of the brain. Some basic chemical adjustments brought the engineers of the Dellet's HyperHuman half-way to their goal ... they stopped short of increasing brain mass, for a bulbous skull was deemed too deviant from the Original Human Form. Accelerated Adolescence -- Perhaps a concession to impatience on the genetecists' part ... Dellet's HyperHumans achieve full adulthood at age six years. Internal Ear and Nose Lids -- Providing the ability to close not just one's eyes, but ears and nose as well. The lids are hidden from objective view, to avoid changing the face of the Original Human Form.
